Corporate identity & branding

Hi, I'm Dimitri Cools and with an experience of more than 17 years I dare to call myself a senior designer/art director. I started my career as a freelance designer for international agencies. After a couple of years I started my own graphic agency, called Cools Concepts.
My highest skills are designing logotypes, creating names and guidelines for companies and brands, but also creating brochures, leaflets, websites and all graphical solutions. So that's exactly what I can offer you. No less, but always more.

The importance of being you

Be different so they'll recognise you

A company (or brand) is very comparable to a human being, with its own habits, face, language, attitude, ... It's very important to express these characteristics so customers and people recognize you as you are as a brand. The label you wear must tell people about yourself, therefor it is my belief that ethics = esthetics. Something good must be beautiful and something beautiful means it's good.

Having an ugly face is better than having no face

But I prefer a pretty face

Quite a lot of companies are not interested in how they appear nor in what people think of them. Let me tell you it ís important, whether you believe it or not. Maybe your activities are not very cool neither sexy. That's no problem at all. But then please don't "dress" sexy. A lawyer for instance must represent coolness, professionalism and should better not wear high heels with a mini skirt. That's exactly the same brands should act. Be yourself and represent your identity!

After some years of doing a wide range of jobs, such as international hauler, I started working as a freelance graphic designer for (inter)national agencies in Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent. Soon I started gaining own clients.

I founded Cools Concepts, a no-nonsense  agency, servicing a wide range of industries and brands. In 2012 we took over Amazing Advertising in Leuven. One year later Cools Concepts Slovakia opened an office in Bratislava for online development. In 2013 we expanded with Web Region with a rich expertise in regional web solutions. In 2017 I left the company to have a sabbatical for a couple of years.

I started studying Graphic Design, but two years later I considered this study too practical. So I decided to continue studying on the Campus Sint-Lucas, Free Graphics. For me this offered me a better balance between theory and practice.

But I'm quite sure it gives you an idea of what my skills are and what I stand for as a professional graphic designer. So, please go ahead and convince yourself. What you see, is the result of a quest which might have taken quite a lot of time. The time needed to grow a unique logotype, brochure, advertisement or website. Like it should.
